The war on terror is not in Iraq, but is - and always has been - in Afghanistan. Today Osama bin Laden runs free, the Taliban is once again strong, North Korea is testing missiles, and Iran is a growing threat, yet our military is mired in occupation in Iraq. This Republican Congress has dutifully approved the failed strategy in Iraq every step of the way, and has voted for billions of dollars without question. I pledge, as your Congressman:
I will not vote for funding the ongoing occupation of Iraq unless George Bush demonstrates a realistic plan for peace and homecoming.
I will stand up and ask real questions on the conduct of the occupation.
