Al's Vision

The war on terror is not in Iraq, but is - and always has been - in Afghanistan. Today Osama bin Laden runs free, the Taliban is once again strong, North Korea is testing missiles, and Iran is a growing threat, yet our military is mired in occupation in Iraq. This Republican Congress has dutifully approved the failed strategy in Iraq every step of the way, and has voted for billions of dollars without question. I pledge, that as your Congressman:

America promised to support our local economies hurt by free trade. That support has never come. Loosely applied band-aids have brought a few jobs that promptly leave when the band-aids fall off. Individuals in our communities are working hard to go beyond quick fixes, and they deserve a Congressman who will make the Federal government live up to its promise. With the tobacco buyout over and the age of tobacco in the Old Belt coming to an end, many are wondering what is next. The answer is biofuels. With climbing gas prices and foreign oil a national security crisis, the need for homegrown fuels is greater than ever. This need is creating a market for Virginia’s family farms. The research has been done. It is time to apply it in our fields, in our cities, and in our gas pumps. more >>

A national health care system will provide all Americans with efficient and affordable healthcare while improving our economy. When you get sick, you should be able to see a doctor. It’s that simple.
