Little Rock, AR. - Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, General Wesley Clark today endorses the candidacy of Al Weed for Congress in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District.
General Clark said, “In a time of increased turmoil at home and abroad, we must have dedicated patriots serving our country. We must return to the core ideals of America: democracy, personal liberty, and service to our country. We are fighting the causes of terrorism that threaten our safety and our core ideals and we must prepare for a changing global economy that demands America train our people to compete for the highest paying jobs. That is exactly why we need Al Weed in Congress to fight for us in Washington, DC and I am pleased to endorse him today.
“From Vietnam to the Bosnia operation, Al has seen up close the dedication and bravery of our men and women in uniform and as a decorated combat veteran, has seen the human cost of bad civilian leadership and flawed strategy in war. His perspective as a solider, farmer and family man is much needed today in government. That’s why I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in this campaign. Al Weed will be part of Virginia’s team in Washington to stand up and give people the peace of mind of knowing that government is doing its work while they are doing theirs."
“In voting for Al Weed, Virginians have an opportunity to turn things around now before it’s too late. To change politics-as-usual, we have to vote for someone besides the usual politicians.”
General Wesley K. Clark is a retired four-star general and served as the Supreme Allied Commander of Europe where he commanded NATO forces and directed Operation Allied Force in the Balkans, putting a stop to the ethnic cleansing by the Serbs. More recently, he was drafted in 2003 to seek the Democratic nomination for President. General Clark remains engaged in public policy and private business development. Authoring two books, Waging Modern Wars and Winning Modern Wars, he and his wife, Gert, still live in Little Rock. He can be reached through his website, www.securingamerica.com.
