Once a self proclaimed champion of the “little guy”,
today Virgil Goode prefers to rub elbows with the big
banks. In the 1970s and 1980s The Almanac of
Virginia Politics repeatedly described Goode as one
who stands up to the “big boys and fat cats.”
Goode has changed and become a fat cat himself.
He has accumulated wealth between
$1,530,061and $3,978,000.
Goode currently holds between $450,000 and
$1,100,000 in stock from several banks and has
received over $78,000 in contributions from bank and
financial institution PACs, and over $8,000 from
individuals in these industries.
“This is yet another example of how Washington has
changed Virgil Goode. I started my farm the same
year he became a politician. I have worked hard for
my family and my community for 33 years; he has
worked hard for his bank account and contributors.
It is time for a change. It is time to get rid of the
politicians and focus on the needs of those working
hard for their families, the middle class,” said Al Weed.
With Goode receiving a 0% rating for his voting
record on middle class issues in 2004, and a 13%
rating in 2005, along with his
votes against increasing the minimum wage, Goode
has apparently forgotten about the “little guy”.
