“I thank all the organizations that have taken the time and done the work to organize candidate forums. They are providing their communities and our democracy a great service. I look forward to all three forums this week. It is important to me that I share my record, my beliefs, and my vision,” said Democratic nominee for the House of Representatives, Al Weed.
The question of the week is will Republican incumbent Virgil Goode debate Weed, or will he hide from his record? Goode refused to debate Weed on October 3rd at a forum hosted by the Earlysville Area Residents League. Three more organizations across the fifth district will host candidate forums this week.
On Tuesday, October 10th at 7:00pm, Morning Star Holy Church in Henry County will host a Candidate's Forum. The church is located at 631 Holland Circle in Axton Virginia. As of October 5th, Mr. Goode had not responded to Reverend Tyler Millner.
On Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00pm, Ferrum College will host a forum on educational issues in the Blue Ridge Mountain Room in the Franklin Building. Mr. Goode has refused to attend. He has offered to send someone who is not running for Congress to debate in his place.
On Thursday, October 12th at 11:00am, Fork Union Military Academy will host a forum during their annual Civics Day. Mr. Goode has refused to attend. He has offered to send someone who is not running for Congress to debate in his place.
“Mr. Goode has some nerve. These invitations have been out there for months. He has no excuse. What will he be doing that is so important? He has no public schedule posted anywhere. He’s just hiding; hiding from his record,” said Weed spokesman Curt Gleeson.
